Everything you need to know about your session

FAQs

  • Whether you book a family photography session, a motherhood session or a maternity session, the main thing is that you feel comfortable moving around, and that your children are able to play and get a bit messy/splashy! My sessions are fun and relaxed, so casual is great and if you want to come a bit dressier that’s great too!

Once your session is confirmed, I’ll send you a welcome guide which has a style section and some great tips if you just aren’t sure.

Lay all your outfits on a bed so you can see if they work well together.

  • The short answer is yes.

The hour after sunrise, and the hour before sunset, aka golden hour, is the softest, most flattering light of the day. Even when overcast, this is still the best time for an outdoor photo session. I strongly recommend a break in routine for one day to get the best light.

If this absolutely will not work for you, get in touch to discuss alternate timing. I would still opt for as late in the day as you can manage, and at a location in the shade. The edits will also look different to what you see on my website & Instagram.

  • My sessions are relaxed and I encourage families to just spend some time together playing, relaxing and exploring while I work around you to capture those in-between moments and connections between family members.

I will give a little guidance on where to sit or stand, depending on the light and only where necessary. I will also give some guidance on some very natural poses occasionally. Mostly though, the best shots are the “unposed” ones!

If you have any specific shots in mind, let’s discuss this at the start of your session!

  • These things happen and we can’t control them, I totally understand. In these circumstances, let’s reschedule your session!

I’ll keep an eye on the weather the days leading up to your session, and if it looks like it will be bucketing down and not great for photos, I’ll be in touch to reschedule.

In the event of illness, please give me as much notice as possible to reschedule.

  • You will receive your online gallery about 3 weeks after your session. During busier times sometimes it can take a little longer.

Photos will be delivered via an online gallery. From here you can select the photos you would like included in your package, and upgrade to purchase more, or all of your photos.

  • Yes! When you receive your online gallery, you can purchase prints and frames directly from here. The printer used is Atkins Lab, Australia’s oldest and best quality printer. I strongly advise this printer if you are displaying photos in your home or giving as gifts.
